Global Perspectives Core
Our Mission Statement
The Global Perspectives Core consists of integrated curriculum between the ninth grade Humanities and English courses. Students examine the world in which we live through a study of the following regions: Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. The main objective of the Global Perspectives Core is for students to gain a meaningful and relevant understanding of how literature, culture, history, and current events are interconnected. Academic and social development is promoted through individual and collaborative activities emphasizing 21st century skills. The program creates a sense of community and aids in the transition to high school.
The Danger of a Single Story
I’ve always felt that it is impossible to engage properly with a place or a person without engaging with all of the stories of that place and that person. The consequence of the single story is this: It robs people of dignity. It makes our recognition of our humanity difficult. It emphasizes how we are different rather than how we are similar.
