Hello Pumas!
I'm looking forward to the 2023-2024 school year. It will be my third year as Principal of MCHS and I am proud to be a Puma!
A little about me. I spend my grammar school years in San Francisco before my parents moved the family to Sacramento in 1980. I moved to Santa Rosa in 1998 and have lived in Sonoma County ever since. My career in education began as a 1st grade classroom teacher. I later transitioned to Petaluma High as a resource teacher for several years before leaving to join Elsie Allen High School.
This year will mark my seventh year as a school administrator, six of which have been at a comprehensive high school. Before joining the Puma Family in 2021, I served as an assistant principal at Natomas Middle School, an assistant principal at Montgomery High School, where I was promoted to Vice Principal for two years before leaving to become the Principal of the Pumas. The past two years have been incredible. Our students are amazing in countless ways and our staff continues to demonstrate dedication and passion in collaborating with our community to prepare our students for the world. So proud to be a Puma!
At home during the school year, I enjoy family, friends, attending my church, and road trips to the coast. During the summer, I enjoy camping, home projects, and checking off my BUCKET List!

Hello PUMA Country!
I grew up on the other, colder coast and taught in Maine prior to moving to California in 2001. After a year teaching in Healdsburg, I joined the Rincon Valley District in 2002 where I spent sixteen years as a classroom teacher, a district Math Consulting Teacher, and a Site Director at RVCS-Sequoia.
I joined the MCHS Puma family in the Fall of 2018. I am honored to be working with the staff and teachers at Carrillo. They are a dedicated team that strives to support each student on their academic journey. Here at MCHS, I have had the great privilege of growing and learning with so many scholars and their families.
If I’m not working, you’ll often find my husband and me at the soccer field, baseball field, or at a meet cheering on one of our three active kiddos or walking our golden retriever, Princess Leia, around Spring Lake.

Hello Pumas and Puma Families -
I am excited to be joining you as an Assistant Principal this coming school year! I have always heard great things about Maria Carrillo; the students, families and staff and I look forward to meeting many of you soon.
Prior to coming to Maria Carrillo I worked as an Assistant & Vice Principal for Vintage High School in Napa, Sonoma Valley High School and Analy High School. I also had the opportunity to lead Laguna High School in West Sonoma County as Principal for two years. Prior to my administrative experience I taught English, Social Science and student leadership. All of these roles have provided me with a great deal of experience working closely with students, staff and families throughout Sonoma and Napa Counties. I am eager to now share my skills and further my own growth as an educator working with the dedicated staff, students and supportive families here at Maria Carrillo.
For the last seventeen years I’ve called Santa Rosa my home and am excited to be working as an educator in my hometown. When I am not at school I enjoy spending time with my husband, son and new puppy either camping, swimming, snow skiing, playing tennis or learning to play pickleball.
I am looking forward to beginning the 2023-2024 school year with you all and getting to know the Maria Carrillo community more!
See you soon Pumas!
